M Revathi, 29, still steadfastly wants to remain a Hindu, despite her six month detention by religious authorities and ongoing efforts to make her a Muslim.

“My name is Revathi. I want to hold on to that name - forever. I want to drop the name Siti Fatimah,” Revathi, sporting pottu (Hindu symbol) on her forehead, told reporters outside the Shah Alam High Court today.

Born Siti Fatimah Abdul Karim to Muslim convert parents, she was called Revathi Masoosai by the grandmother who raised her.

She married to V Suresh in 2004 according to Hindu rites and has a 18-month old daughter.

In January this year, Revathi was detained at the Malacca Syariah High Court when she attended a hearing over her application to have her official religious status be recognised as a Hindu.

She was detained at the court and subsequently held at the Ulu Yam religious rehabilitation camp in Selangor for six months until she was freed yesterday.

Speaking about her experience inside the camp, Revathi today described that she was subjected to ‘mental torture’ and claimed that she defied attempts to coerce her to follow religious classes.

“Their programmes are solely on religion. (There were also) prayer classes. I never attended (any of them). I only attended counselling. During counselling, they said I had to do this and that. They said I had to follow (religious) laws. I just buat tidak tahu (ignore).

“I argued that I had a right to choose my religion, but they replied that I should not talk about (my) rights,” said Revathi who is presently living with her Muslim parents as ordered by the religious authorities.

‘Many ran away’

She claimed that many had ran away from the ‘jail-like’ conditions of the camp but she had not.

“A lot of people ran away, even though (the camp was for Muslims). Though I’m a Hindu, I could bertahan (bear with the conditions), because I’m upholding the good name of Hinduism,” she added.

During her detention, she was not allowed visits. Recalling the only time she got to see her husband during her detention, Revathi said:

“Even though I was not allowed to meet my husband, I got to see him (standing) outside the camp, without their permission. I saw his car and I ran towards the fence. It was only once (I got to see him during the detention). After that, they (from the centre) dragged me away.

“Before, it was not enclosed. Now, they used zinc (sheets) to surround the area. You can’t see inside and we won’t know who is outside,” she said.

Revathi was initially detained for 80 days at the camp but her detention was extended for 100 days twice. Her stint ended yesterday when she was presented before the Malacca Syariah Court.

‘Waste of my time’

She was ordered to live with her parents and undergo counselling. She lamented that she was “unsatisfied” with the decisions made by the court.

“They held me for six months, only to say that I cannot leave Islam. If that is the case, they should have told me earlier, so I don’t have to go into the centre.

“Who’s going to compensate for the six months I was there? (It is a) waste of my time! I was separated from my child and husband. How are they going to compensate?” she asked.

“I have a right to choose my religion. In six months, they cannot make me change my mind, how can they do it now?”

She also said that religious officials tried to force her to pray, eat beef and wear a headscarf.

"Because of their behaviour, I hate (benci) Islam even more now," she added.

"Diviya Dharshini is now more than 18 months old and she has no birth certificate – an example of bureaucracy gone crazy - Y.B.Lim Kit Siang"

Manusia hipokrit

Beberapa tahun lalu, Ketua Pemuda MIC S.Vigneswaran (ketika itu belum bergelar Y.B.)berkata, "ada kalanya kita boleh menipu seseorang, ada kalanya kita boleh menipu semua orang tetapi kita tidak boleh menipu semua orang pada setiap masa". Hari ini Diktaktor Samy Vellu dan Pandithan berdepan dengan suasana yang demikian. Mereka boleh bersandiwara atas nama kepentingan masyarakat India tetapi masyarakat India sudah lama sedar akan sandiwara tersebut.

Dulu pandithan menggunakan, pelbagai kata-kata kesat kepada diktaktor tetapi hari ini tanpa segan silu meletakkan diktaktor setaraf dengan "Lord Krishna" manakala diktaktor yang selalu menamakan pandithan sebagai "gagak hitam" menjilat semula ludahnya dan memanggil pandithan sebagai adiknya.

Doi-Moi tidak kisah kalau pandithan dan diktaktor hendak memeluk dan mencium antara satu sama lain tetapi apa yang memilukan ialah pengikut samy & pandi masih tidak sedar sebenarnya mereka menjadi kuda tunggangan dalam krisis samy & pandi. Selagi ketidaksedaran ini wujud, selagi itulah akan ada manusia hipokrit seperti pandi dan samy.

penjara kerana curi 10 skru / 90sen

Membaca Harian Metro online hari ini menyentak hati. Seorang pencuci kereta di hukum penjara 13 bulan dan denda RM1,000 oleh Mahkamah Majistret di sini, semalam, selepas mengaku salah mencuri 10 batang skru besi milik Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas).

Bukan mahu membela perbuatan jenayah. Tetapi hati agak tersentak apabila membaca rayuan A Vijaya Kumar, 29. "Saya tinggal bersama tujuh adik beradik dan memberi sumbangan besar pendapatan kepada keluarga. Saya mencuri barangan terbabit disebabkan mengalami kesempitan hidup," rayunya kepada Majisterit.

Sememangnya ada rekod jenayah sebelum itu dan jika dia benar bersalah dia harus dihukum. Tetapi melalui kes ini rakyat perlu buka sedikit mata hati kita. Pendakwa raya dihadapan majisteret menyatakan "Perbuatan mencuri 10 batang skru besi milik Syabas menyebabkan syarikat terbabit mengalami kerugian besar akibat dari tindakan tidak bertanggungjawab seperti ini. Disebabkan tertuduh tidak insaf perlu diberikan hukuman setimpal."

Syabas yang mendapat keuntungan berbilion setiap tahun menjual air yang diturunkan tuhan. ( Nota ; Walaupun Malaysia berlebihan air sehingga banjir namun air tetap mahal dan malah kadang kala air tidak mencukupi - itu maknanya kerajaan (BN) dan syarikat kroninya gagal menguruskan sistem pengairan air negara). Dengan hanya kehilangan 10 skru pendakwa raya
menyifatkan Syabas telah kerugian besar.

Apakah pendakwaraya atau pejabat Peguam Negara hanya celik apabila kerugian itu ditanggung oleh syarikat (baca; golongan kapitalis) kroni kerajaan yang sememangnya sudah mewah dan lelap apabila kerugian itu menimpa rakyat yang sedia susah.

Laporan kedua hari ini ialah seorang remaja tingkatan empat dihantar ke Sekolah Pemulihan Henry Gurney kerana bersalah mencuri 90sen walaupun itu kesalahan pertamanya.

Mana pendakwaan rasuah yang berjuta malah berbilion (sehingga kini rasuah Rafidah Aziz dan Rahim Thamby Chik di senyapkan). Apa tindakan mereka apabila kerugian menimpa rakyat seperti apabila projek SMART (dah tukar nama ke Terowong Bestari untuk perbodoh rakyat) gagal ?

Siapa mahu tanggung kerugian satu juta yang dialami oleh dua sekolah kerana Smart yang gagal ? atau siapa yang mahu ambil tanggungjawab untuk tanggung anggaran awal 50 juta kerugian peniaga kecil di Kuala Lumpur yang memang sedia dari awal bertarung untuk menyara hidup ?

Yang pasti selepas gagal rakyat terus derita tetapi kerajaan (BN) akan terus menimmatinya kerana syarikat kroni akan terus menikmati kontrak baru, apabila kabinet meluluskan pengeluaran wang negara (Nota ; wang negara ialah wang kita yang dikutip dari cukai , saman dan sebagainya. Malah jagi menteri juga datangnya dari wang kita).

Rayuan....bukalah mata wahai rakyat tercinta.

PORT KLANG: K. Narani had always wanted to see her son married. But the tears of the guests at the wedding ceremony yesterday were of both joy and sorrow.

In a simple gesture of love for his mother, P. Sanjeevi Rajan married R. Sasikalah in front of his mother’s body during her funeral at the family’s house here.Fate had been cruel to the family, as 47-year-old Narani died of a heart attack in Chennai, India, on Sunday while shopping for sarees and other accessories for the wedding which had been originally scheduled for June 30.When her body was brought to the house at noon yesterday, Narani’s grieving husband Perumal suggested that Sanjeevi Rajan honour his mother’s dream of seeing her son married.Bride and groom consented, and after consulting with Sasikalah’s family, it was agreed that the wedding would go ahead.

Two priests were brought to the house, and between 2pm and 3pm, they conducted all the usual wedding ceremonies minus the yagna (fire ceremony).Sasikalah, 25, was dressed in a blue saree while Sanjeevi Rajan wore the traditional vesthi and jippa.Sanjeevi Rajan, 28, also performed the patha pooja, where he washed the feet of his parents.

For this ceremony, Perumal stood beside the body of Narani.The thali was then placed in the mother’s hand before Sanjeevi Rajan tied it around Sasikalah’s neck.Instead of the usual yellow rice, flowers were given to those present in the family hall to bless the couple.Later, Sanjeevi Rajan said though a marriage in such circumstances was unheard of, he was glad that it took place the way it did."I could have got married in the temple later, but would my mother be there? At least now, my mother is still here. My parents were side by side. It means the world to me."It’s both the saddest and happiest day for me in one go," he said wiping away his tears.Sasikalah said she was fortunate to have her wedding in front of her mother-in-law."

I got the chance to pay my last respects as the daughter-in-law and it means a lot to me."Her father, R. Rajaratnam, said when Perumal came up with the idea, he discussed it with family members and everyone felt that it was a good suggestion."It’s definitely worth it.

Narani wanted to see the wedding and Sanjeevi Rajan wanted his mother to be present at his wedding. Both got their wishes."As for the wedding invitations that have been sent out, Rajaratnam said everyone would be informed about what had happened.

However, he said the couple would get their marriage registered at the temple on June 30.

Lina Joy: What is freedom of religion?

I find Nathaniel Tan's letter to editor (Malaysiakini) useful in understanding the issue of Lina Joy. I am reproducing it here for further discussion.I have, in my hands, a few cases of Muslim converts who wish to return to their previous religion. In that sense, their cases are slightly different from Lina who has renounced Islam ( a Malay who's born as a Muslim). In my mind, I think they should be allowed to go back to their original religion. Even for Lina Joy, I really do not see the logic and reason to force her to stay as a Muslim. My reasons are simply these:

1. All religions share the same root. We are all children of Abraham. All religions are ONE.

2. There's no such thing as a superior religion.

3. Other Muslims would not leave Islam just because Lina Joy was allowed to leave Islam.

4. Freedom of religion should include freedom to join and freedom to leave a particular religion.

5. Many have left Islam in the past but more have embraced Islam at the same time.

6. Like other religions, Islam is a good religion.

7. People who have left Islam without condemning it should not be seen as apostles.

8. Only people who condemn the religion (Muslim or Non-Muslim) could be considered as apostles and this must not be allowed in this country.

9. Malaysia, as a multi-religious society, needs freedom of religion for real harmony and peace among the peoples of different faith.

The Prime Minister's response on the Lina Joy's case is pathetic. He just want to wash his hands and pretend that he has got nothing to do with it. He has once again failed to carry out his duty and responsibility as the prime minister of this country.

Nalla oh Nalla

Doi-Moi berpendapat Dato' Nalla telah mengambil satu tindakan yang tidak rasional di mana beliau meletakkan jawatan dan keluar dari Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) sehari sebelum mesyuarat agung tahunan yang menyaksikan pertandingan untuk jawatan-jawatan utama parti. Sekiranya Dato' Nalla mempunyai semangat perjuangan beliau patut mempertahankan keputusan asalnya untuk bertanding jawatan Naib Presiden. Peluang untuk beliau menang berdasarkan pencalonan yang diterimanya adalah tinggi. Sebagai seorang pejuang politik beliau patut meneruskan hasrat untuk bertanding walaupun Anwar sendiri memberikan nasihat untuk beliau memberi laluan kepada Azmin. Doi-Moi berpendapat Dato' Nalla sebenarnya tidak mempunyai ciri-ciri seorang pejuang yang tulen dan berani berdepan dengan risiko. Apa gunanya beliau menyalahkan orang lain bila beliau sendiri tidak berani untuk berdepan dengan cabaran politik. Selamat Bersara Dato' Nalla, gunakanlah masa yang ada bersama keluarga.

Political Decision

The decision has been made, but i dont think its a "constitutional decision" but made based on political situation which i called it as a "political decision." Its a sad day for those who are struggling for the freedom to practice the religion. Its a open secret that she has converted to christianity, so i dont see the victory as "proclaimed" by some religious bigots. On paper her religion will be "Islam" but by soul she will not. If she die in Malaysia, religious authority will get her body but definately will fail to get her soul. If you are strong enough in your stand as what you are, then the religious authority dont need the law to put those who decided to renounce behind the bar just to make he/she to remain as a muslim. The decision has not solved the problem and this type of cases will prolonged and in future we will see more cases which will create more tension and will widen the gap on our unity. If you love this country and you believe you are part of this country, then you can make a changes. How? Show your disatisfaction on ballot paper.

Datuk Richard Malanjum on his dissenting judgement said "it was not the function of the NRD to ensure that Lina had properly apostasised as such a matter should be left to the relevant religious authorities to take any action as deemed necessary. The NRD has not shown that one of its statutory duties is to ensure that a person has properly renounced the Islamic faith in accordance with the requirements of the Islamic authorities. The principle of administrative law stated that a public authority must not act mechanically and must consider each case on its merits."

Datuk Sri,

I, Sheena Moorthy, a 3rd year Biotech Malaysian student in CALPOLY would like to submit a formal complaint against our Minister of Science & Technology, YAB Jamaluddin Narjis. I would like to bring to your attention the following incident which was totally uncalled for from the minister.

Date: 30th April 2007Time: 6.30pmVenue: Belacan Grill Malaysian Restaurant, Redondo Beach, CaMinister of Science, Dato Jamaluddin Jarjis was here on an official visit. He wanted to meet some of the Malaysian students studying in California especially the ones from TPM Academy twinning programme.

During the 3 ½ hour session, he passed a few racial remarks on me, being one of the two Indians present there.

Incident 1 - Each student had to briefly introduce themselves. When it came to my turn, while speaking he interrupted me and asked if I knew Samy Velu, because he knows him. I don't see any relevance in that and he mentioned it a few times for no apparent reason.

Incident 2 - He gave a speech regarding how agriculture started in Malaysia. He mentioned how the British invested in Malaysia and made farmers work. Due to the lack of work force, "buruh India" was brought in. While mentioning this, he looked at me saying that's how we get Indians in Malaysia.

Incident 3 - After saying he is going to get MARA to help the Bumiputra students, he looked at me and asked "How many Indians are here?, I don't have and don't keep track of number of Indian students here so I mentioned that "In this room, there are two (pointing to my another Malaysian Indian friend, who is fair skinned) and J.Jarjis looked at him and asked "Oh. You are an Indian", which means you are an upper class Indian and she is the lower class one (pointing at me). He went on to say that, "Oh, I am not going to help upper class Indians, I only help to lower class ones. They are the ones that need it'. I left the room feeling very insulted. Basically he judged me based on my skin color.

Being a Minister and respectable figure, these statements that he mentioned was unethical and biased. This happened in front of a crowd about 100 people. Being a true Malaysian at heart, and being taught not to discriminate among races especially in Malaysia, I feel humiliated as well as insulted by these racial remarks.

I demand a public apology from him because he does not have a right to judge me nor pass any remarks to me.

Also, I would greatly appreciate if you could kindly review his performance and take appropriate action to mitigate another unwanted racial remark, insults and shame to our country from this minister.

Subashini's pain, Malaysia's anguish

Aliran----Non-Muslim husbands who abandon their spouses and their families and convert into Islam have acted in an irresponsible manner leaving them in the lurch. When these wayward husbands convert their children without the consent or knowledge of their spouses, they inflict further trauma and pain on their spouses and leave them helplessly in an agonising situation. When these suffering spouses turn to the civil courts for justice, they are treated unjustly. The recent event involving R Subashini is a case in point. We carry three reactions from civil society organisations to highlight this problem.

In the first reaction, Honey Tan Lay Ean says that the palpable sense of injustice and disillusionment surrounding the case makes a mockery of the upcoming Merdeka celebrations.

The All Women’s Action Society (Awam) reads with concern the decision handed down by the Court of Appeal in R. Subashini’s case. The main impact of that decision was that her husband, T Saravanan, may convert their children without her consent, commence proceedings in the Syariah Court to dissolve their marriage and take custody of their children.

We are disturbed by Justice Hasan’s judgement that R. Subashini should seek remedy from the Syariah Court in this matter. Similarly, we note with concern Justice Suriyadi’s comments that T Saravanan is well within his constitutional right in bringing matters concerning his civil marriage to Subashini to the Syariah Court. This is contrary to the Federal Constitution, which clearly states that Syariah laws only apply to people professing the religion of Islam. R Subashini is Hindu. We ask: what of R Subashini’s rights and the rights of her children?

R Subashini’s marriage to T Saravanan was conducted under the civil system. By forcing her to seek relief through the Syariah Court, R Subashini is deprived of her legal rights under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976.

We are also concerned that the rights of their children have been shunted aside. Both parents must have a say in deciding their children’s religion. If there is no agreement, the children can choose their religion upon turning 18 - the age of majority in Malaysia. Until then, there should be no change in the children’s religion.

The first principle of the Rukun Negara is ‘Belief in God’. Religion plays a significant role in our lives. It is unjust that one parent is deprived of having a say on an important matter which has a great impact on their children’s future. Furthermore, R Subashini’s children were not given a choice as to whether they want to convert to the religion their father had chosen for himself.

Malaysians more disconnected

There is also a larger moral question of the anguish suffered by R Subashini and other women in her position. Even if she were to eventually win custody of their children, she may be prevented from imparting the knowledge of her religious traditions to her children. This happened in Shamala’s case. Awam fears that every move she makes in bringing up her children may then be scrutinised to ensure that she does not “expose” her children to Hinduism. At a time when religion has become synonymous with ethnicity, unfortunately this may also extend to Indian culture.

R Subashini’s case is symptomatic of problems in the everyday reality of negotiating rights and legal jurisdictions under the Federal Constitution. We agree with Justice Sri Ram’s dissenting judgement on this case that the Federal Constitution “confers jurisdiction on a Syariah High Court in civil matters where all parties are Muslim”, and that any other interpretation would be unjust towards non-Muslim spouses.

The Federal Constitution is not simply a document. Certain interpretations on the matter of jurisdiction have far-reaching social consequences, beyond the two parties confronting each other in court.

First, how could any non-Muslim woman feel secure in marrying and having children when her husband could potentially threaten to convert and thus take her children away? Awam fears that violent husbands could use this threat to prevent women from reporting cases of domestic abuse, forcing them and their children to suffer in silence.

Secondly, the way with which cases such as Subashini and Shamala was handled does nothing to help the cause of national unity. The palpable sense of injustice and disillusionment makes a mockery of the upcoming Merdeka celebrations. How much have we achieved as a nation, really, when pain and injustice are shrugged off as collateral damage? Fifty years after we have embarked on realising the hopes and dreams of a free nation, Malaysians are more disconnected from each other than ever.

Penchala Link ?

Kenapa setelah beberapa tahun Penchala-Link dibuka tetapi jambatan berkaitan ini masih belum/tidak digunakan? Jalan menghala ke Jambatan tersebut masih terus ditutup dan dijadikan sebagai tempat meletak kereta. Wang siapa yang terbazir kalau bukannya wang rakyat?

Samy Vellu harus bertanggungjawab atas pembaziran tersebut. Nilai pembinaan jambatan tersebut adalah berjuta ringgit tetapi tidak digunakan. Penyiasatan Doi-Moi ke tapak tersebut yang terletak berhadapan dengan "Fitness Centre" di Sri Harta Mas membuktikan bahawa jambatan tersebut tidak digunakan sejak dibuka. Siapa yang harus bertanggungjawab??? Yang pasti wang rakyat terus dibazirkan tanpa satu perancangan yang berkualiti.

Biarlah pendedahan Doi-Moi membuka mata pihak Kerajaan dan ahli parlimen. Semoga pendedahan ini mendapat perhatian pihak-pihak yang berkaitan.

Rusuhan 13 Mei atau peristiwa 13 Mei

Generasi ketiga yang juga dikenali Gen-3 tidak melalui apa yang disebut sebagai Peristiwa 13 Mei atau yang lebih tepat dipanggil Rusuhan 13 Mei. Bagi generasi kedua atau Gen-2, peristiwa tersebut sepatutnya menjadi penanda aras masa depan negara ini selepas 12 tahun Merdeka, kerana ada buruk dan ada baiknya.

Apa pun kajian dibuat atas rusuhan itu, ini tidak memberi apa-apa faedah kepada perkembangan generasi ke 4 dan seterusnya. Bagi menyalahkan setiap orang belum pasti ada kebenaran mahupun membenarkan sesuatu keadaan itu juga belum dipastikan betul.Sebenarnya tidak ada sebab untuk mendalami punca rusuhan tersebut.

Yang pasti kerana kesilapan istilah yang menjadikan isu ini isu perkauman. Jika peringkat awal pihak berkuasa menggunakan istilah "rusuhan" dan bukannya "peristiwa" 13Mei 1969, kemungkinan besar, isu tersebut tidak membawa pengertian perkauman sebaliknya dia hanya sekadar satu isu politik ketika itu.Mencari punca akan berlaku rusuhan itu, tidak memerlukan kenyataan yang berbelit atau pun memerlukan penelitian khusus atas kertas-kertas rahsia sama ada dalam negeri atau pun sampai ke United Kingdom.

Puncanya ialah mudah kerana Perikatan masa itu di bawah pimpinan Tunku Abd Rahman tidak menerima akan keputusan demokrasi akan kekalahan kerajaan dalam pilihan raya umum 1969.Disebabkan UMNO sebagai Parti teras, Perikatan sudah ditolak oleh rakyat bukan sahaja kawasan-kawasan para pengundi Cina yang menjadi majoriti tetapi juga kawasan Melayu 100%. Ini ditambah pula dengan kehilangan kuasa satu pertiga di Perak dan Selangor serta kekalahan di Kelantan dan Pulau Pinang. UMNO lah yang menggunakan sentimen Melayu bagi membakar perasaan rakyat, dan sentimen hanya laku di Penang, Perak, Selangor dan sedikit di Negeri Sembilan dan Johor tetapi tidak melibatkan negeri di Pantai Timur.

Ketegangan itu berpunca dari kelewatan penubuhan kerajaan negeri dan persekutuan walaupun keputusan PRU sudah muktamad pada 11hb Mei 1969, kerajaan negeri masih belum lagi wujud termasuk penubuhan kerajaan Persekutuan. Sementara itu YTM Tunku Abd Rahman Putra sendiri telah menghadap Yang Dipertuan Agong pada 14hb Mei 1969 dan hanya memohon mengisytiharkan Perintah Darurat dan tidak menubuhkan kerajaan. Kesimpulannya dalam sejarah Malaysia hanya PRU 1969 satu kerajaan ditubuhkan atas bidang kuasa Yang Dipertuan Agong mengikut Perlembagaan dalam bidang kuasanya.

Peristiwa itu memberi contoh bahawa Yang Dipertuan Agong mempunyai bidang kuasa untuk melantik sesiapa sahaja menjadi Perdana Menteri termasuk seorang Pengarah bagi satu kerajaan darurat yang dipanggil Majlis Gerakan Negara.Sekiranya YTM Tunku Abd Rahman dengan segera mengangkat sumpah sebagai Perdana Menteri pada 11hb Mei 1969 dan juga Menteri Besar Perak dan Selangor yang mempunyai “simple” majoriti dalam Dewan Negeri, kemungkinan besar Rusuhan 13Mei boleh dielakkan.

Tetapi atas kelemahan dan juga terlepas pandang akan perkara itu, maka sebilangan besar rakyat tidak berdosa telah membayar dengan darah dan nyawa.Mereka-mereka yang berminat dalam sejarah dan juga hendak menyiasat punca yang menyebabkannya rusuhan 13Mei. Siasatan mestilah juga melihat dari segi perspektif perpaduan kaum di Malaysia. Sebenarnya tidak timbul isu perkauman apa yang menyebabkan rusuhan 13Mei itu dan jika dikatakan Tun Razak Hussein yang merancang peristiwa tersebut bagi merampas kuasa, itu adalah satu kajian berdasarkan kepada "pendengaran" sahaja sebaliknya jika mahu disalahkan mungkin kesalahan boleh diletakkan ke atas "polis" pada masa itu.

Kenapa tidak? Sekiranya Polis tidak mengambil tindakan mengejar orang menconteng di jalan raya di Kepong dan kemudian polis diserang sehingga menyebabkan terbunuh salah seorang dari mereka, sudah pasti tidak akan ada perarakan mayat. Sejarah membuktikan bahawa antara orang yang berjuang untuk perarakan mayat itu adalah Syed Hamid Bin Syed Ali yang juga Presiden Persatuan Penuntut Universiti Malaya. Maka bererti perarakan mayat itu bukan mesti dilihat atas sifat perkauman sebaliknya atas sifat tindakan polis menembak mati seorang yang menconteng di jalan raya dan kemudian diburu untuk penangkapan, itu betul atau tidak?

Begitu juga dalam soal Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia - PGRM, ia juga bukan parti yang diasaskan kerana perkauman sebaliknya ada berapa orang Melayu yang menyertainya dan termasuk yang menang bertanding atas tiket PGRM. Maka jika dilihat keseluruhannya ,apa parti pun sama ada Democratic Action Part i- DAP dan Progresif People Parti - PPP mereka tidak merangsang soal-soal isu perkauman dalam masa PRU 1969 sebalik parti-parti itu membangkitkan isu-isu yang menyentuh kepada semua golongan rakyat yang ditindas dalam sistem kapitalis menjadi pegangan UMNO masa itu dan sehingga hari ini.

Rusuhan 13Mei bagi generasi ketiga dan seterusnya mestilah dilihat dari sudut pandangan yang berbeza. Insiden rusuhan itu juga membawa implikasi ke arah penyatuan bangsa Malaysia. Ia mestilah melihat pada masa rakyat dalam kebodohan, mereka boleh berfikir panjang. Mereka menggunakan hak mereka, untuk membuat keputusan yang menguntungkan generasi mereka. Sebilangan mereka menolak parti Perikatan dalam PRU itu. Walau hari ini Perikatan telah berubah ke Barisan Nasional tetapi banyak perjuangan memperkukuhkan perpaduan kaum oleh bangsa Malaysia telah berjaya, termasuk kepada soal kepentingan orang Melayu.

Ini memberikan gambaran, yang membawa isu perkauman sempit adalah UMNO itu sendiri. Mereka ketakutan akan kehilangan kuasa dalam masa sama dia cuba membina UMNO sebagai satu entiti berjuang untuk Melayu tetapi bilangan Melayu yang berkhianat kepada Melayu banyak terdapat dikalangkan orang yang memakai lencana UMNO.Semenjak UMNO dipimpin oleh dua orang anak Ahmad, seorang sebagai Presiden UMNO bernama Abdullah Hj Ahmad dan seorang sebagai Setiausaha Agong bernama Radzi Seikh Ahmad, dan kedua Ahmad mempunyai latar belakang agama Islam yang agak baik jika bandingan dengan yang lain, tetapi kedua anak mereka yang memimpin UMNO berlawanan dengan ajaran Islam itu sendiri.

Bila Abdullah Hj Ahmad menyamakan dirinya dan keluarganya dengan YTM Tunku Abd Rahman Putra menjual harta benda seperti rumah dan tanah, dia mengatakan dia juga begitu, ada harta bapaknya terjual kerana UMNO. Tunku Abd Rahman Putra meninggal dunia tanpa meninggalkan harta, dia tidak menggunakan jawatan Perdana Menterinya untuk menebus harta yang digadaikan untuk UMNO dan tidak menggunakan UMNO untuk mencari kekayaan dirinya atau anak dan menantunya.

Sebaliknya Abdullah Hj Ahmad, atas sumbangan bapaknya menjual harta untuk UMNO sekarang ditebus dengan memberikan kepada anak dan menantu perniagaan dan kontrak lebih dari yang dikorbankannya. Maka sewajarnya tidak perlu berucap di mana-mana untuk menceritakan perihal penjualan tanah bendang untuk UMNO itu, rakyat telah menebusnya dengan memberi anaknya Kamalludin dan menantunya Khairy bermacam-macam perniagaan walaupun tidak ada kerelaan.

Begitu juga Setiausaha Agung UMNO yang juga Menteri Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri, khabarnya sudah berkata dengan orang yang bertanya, kenapa dia tidak mengindahkan arahan Najib Tun Razak dalam soal kelulusan pekerja asing. Jawapan bahawa dia tidak bekerja dengan Najib Tun Razak, dia bekerja dengan Abdullah Hj Ahmad dan tambahnya dia tidak mahu menjadi Menteri jika Najib Tun Razak menjadi Perdana Menteri. Soalnya pekerja asing dan isu terlibat Radzi Sheikh Ahmad yang menggunakan proksi akan ditulis selengkapnya pada rencana akan datang.

Bayangkan setiap pekerja asing terpaksa membayar wang rasuah... opppp bukan wang "goodwill" kepada orang tertentu sekurangnya RM1,000 (satu ribu) dan bayangkan kalau dua juta orang diluluskan, berapa jumlahnya wang tidak masuk dalam akuan kerajaan.Sang Kelembai: Masih ingat lagi peristiwa 13hb Mei di depan Jalan Raja Muda, Kampong Baru dan masih terbayang Dato Harun Idris berucap di atas bumbung Bas Sri Jaya.

Pembohongan besar jika dikatakan pada petang itu tentera telah masuk ke Kuala Lumpur hanya selepas darurat diisytiharkan lalu RAMD membuat khemah di dua buah bulatan di Jalan Ipoh iaitu persimpangan Jalan Pekeliling dan Jalan Pahang persimpangan Jalan Tuanku Abd. Rahman. Elok rasanya kerajaan lepaskan rakaman filem rusuhan 13Mei yang tersimpan di Filem Negara Malaysia untuk tayangan umum... segalanya ada di situ.

Samy, it's time to go!

I refer to the malaysiakini report Samy to Anwar: You're the biggest liar.

Samy, you can hurl all form of accusations at other leaders as much as you may wish. But at the end of the day, as claimed by you, the MIC represents the Indians in the ruling coalition called Barisan Nasional. Therefore, as the head of the MIC, you are seen to be their representative in the cabinet as well. Your input, I believe, leads to decisions for them. Thus it is you who has to be held accountable for the deplorable state the large majority of Indians in the country are in.

Barisan Nasional plays the racial political card. The Malays look to Umno for development, protection and recognition. Similarly, the Chinese see MCA as their vehicle while Gerakan maybe is another added vehicle for them. And MIC is seen as the party for the Indians within this coalition.

As president of MIC, you have continued to treat the IPF as an ‘outcaste’ ensuring that they get no recognition nor be made a member of the BN. The only reason is that you wanted to remain as the supreme political leader of the Indians. The presence of M Kayveas and the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has become a challenge for you.

But the key question remains - what difference have you made being in the ruling party? The Tamil schools are in a shameful condition. Thousands of children of Indian origin are stateless. And hundreds are dropping out from school. If some children have come up, it is due to the hard work of the various independent community initiatives that have pooled together their efforts to provide free tuition and guidance.

The plantation workers do not even have a monthly wage. The crime rate among the Indians is very high indeed. The largest number of inmates in Simpang Renggam detention centre comprises Indians. The litany of negative indicators goes on. But you are aware of it. And yet have done little.
