World Press Freedom

The United Nations General Assembly declared World Press Freedom Day in 1993, following a recommendation adopted at the twenty-sixth session of UNESCO's General Conference in 1991. Every year, 3rd May is celebrated as World Press Freedom day. Press freedom is the basic fundamental principles to evaluate the degree / level of democratic system practiced. Unfortunatley in most countries especially 3rd world countries, press freedom is "dirty words" for the government. Let's celebrate this freedom day by advocating the rights for the Information. The third world country government should not hide their self behind the law to stop the people from accessing the information. Denying the access to Information is violation of human rights.

Cancellation of DR live telecast ?

[updated: 16:34 / 2nd May 2008] Cabinet has given a green light to continue with half-hour live telecast of Dewan Rakyat proceedings. Why can't Cabinet take more progressive stand by extending the hours to full sitting?

Information Minister expected to submit a proposal to Cabinet on this Friday on cancellation of Dewan Rakyat live telecast. The reason was "misuse by MP's". Once again, not a good reason to call off the telecast. Even I dont agree when umno MT call off their annual convention live telecast but any way it's ok because its their party matters. But to call off the DR telecast is really a setback for the country. I believe the major reason was not the misuse but umno don't want the "Rakyat" to know how bad the ruling party performance in DR. Speaker failed to follow the standing point by refusing the supplementary question after the related minister or his deputy answered the write-in question's. Badawi said he want to have a world class parliament but Speaker don't haven't give a chance for supplementary question, then how to have a world class parliament? DR live telecast must go on and extended to full sitting. This is the only way to discipline the YB's who misbehave during the sitting. Let the voter's watch live the attitude of their YB's and decide whether they need to re-send him/her again to Parliament in future.

At least now his brain dare to talk

[updated: 16:02 / 1st May 2008] Lim Keng Yeik during his interview session with Malaysiakini said, of course we did not deliver the votes. Of course we failed. But who did the undoing? Can you solve the problem? How do you feel when you are a mother who is divorced from a husband whose convenience became a Muslim and took the children to become Muslim and the courts say we have no jurisdiction in the civil courts, go to the Syariah courts where she has no standing? At least now his brain dare to talk the truth? Umno must put their self in Indian's shoe and understand the situation. If you really want the Indian votes in next general election then do it. We are not a begger's in this country. Every Indians in this country has an equall portion of contribution's as others on development of this country but what do Indian's get in return? Dont discriminate and treat equally all the Malaysian irespective of race or religion.

'Samy Vellu ordered temple demolition'?

Dr Mohd Khir Toyo said "Samy Vellu called me on the night of Nov 15 and told me that Hindraf (Hindu Rights Action Force) people had infiltrated the temple and that it must be demolished that night itself". I believe this is the most heaviest allegation's against the mic president, Mr. Semi Value. Do Semi Value dare to say "NO" and take the legal action against this man, who are vying for the umno youth post? If he don't then he should take the full responsibility and mic cwc must take a displinary actions and sack him from the party.

I will remember you forever

Dear MGG, two years has past yet it's not easy to forget about you or your contribution towards the cyber journalism. The most I miss was a chance to meet you. We fix a date to meet but then I have to postponed it. Unfortunately when I ready to meet you on following week, you are not there any more. I will remember that forever in my life. MGG PILLAI (1939-2006), died two years ago at the age of 67.

Hisammuddin says SORRY

Press conference with Barisan Nasional Youth chairman Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. Hishammuddin has admitted that his raising of the keris was among the causes of the Barisan Nasional's poor performance. Saying sorry is not good enough. The apologise should be followed with the resignation since you admitted, raising keris was one of the factor for the poor performance. When non-umno BN componnets told you they are not happy with the keris drama, you put them down without any respect. The problem with umno is, your self appointed mandor attitude to other component members and your umno policy become as government policy is not good for the future political struggle anymore. Without out doing all this nonsense, umno are not going to revitalise. Most probably next GE, umno will be sitting in opposition bench.

Balkis oh Balkis

[updated: 29 April 2008 /8:09] I have to retract my sentence {in magenta} since the Penang "Bunga Tanjung" has joined the ranks of BALKIS. They transfered RM350,000 to Bakti.

[Updated: 27 April 2008 / 23:42]
Three days after 8th Mac 2008, ex-menteri besar wife, Datin Seri Zaharah Kechik called for EGM and then decided to disolved Balkis (state exco member's wife association) and transfer RM9.9million to Bakti (federal minister's wife organisation) even the web page server was shut down. The reason was, state government is no longer under the umno@bn. So what! if the state government is not under the umno@bn? The voters has taken a decision and a good leader must accept the decision. The ill attitude of Zaharah Kechik remind me the British strategy when they lost the war to Japanese. Before British left the country they decided to sabotage the economy by doing as many damage's as they can to the economy installation such as rubber plantation, railway track, companies and important government documents. The same strategy was used although the winning party is the citizens of this country and it's people's decision. I thought only Dr.Khir Toyo has no brain and then now its proven his wife also in the same basket. They should take a one day course with Dr.Koh Tsu Koon on how to transfer the state smoothly to the people's choice government. In fact in Selangor, not only Balkis has been disolved but more Exco files are missing in actions and between first two months of 2008, the previous government has completely finish-off the development fund. So what should the people's government do? It's better to call the independent auditors and based on report charge those who responsible [if any misdoings] in court.
