DEB@NEP

DEB@NEP was formalized under the then premier The Late Tun Abdul Razak after the 13 May 1969, tragedy. The objective of DEB@NEP was, to eradicate the poverty and to restructure the Malaysian irrespective of the race or religion. It was a good policy on paper but umno has hijacked the policy and convert it as a malay agenda. After TDM took over from The Late Tun Hussein Onn, he converts the policy aggressively to help malays for his political survival. Unfortunately at the end of the policy after 20 years, not much achieved because the elites in umno have hijacked it for their personnel gains. Only umno elites gain from the DEB@NEP and they are well known as umno-putra. The malays at the root level get nothing and they are known as bumiputra. Two years ago, umno youth in Batu Kawan division raised up the issue saying, Penang Gerakan government done nothing to help malays in that state. Gerakan was holding the principle implementation on the DEB@NEP. The issues was raised up because the chief umno youth from Bt.Kawan get nothing from the state government at that time. He keeps its mouth shut after given a few project and position. In that sense, the stand taken by the new Penang state government to ignore the DEB@NEP is a good decision. All the Malaysian's irrespective race or religion should entitle for the state assistant if they really deserved it. If umno-putra can purchase a million ringgit of bungalow house then I don't see the reason on why government must continue the special assistant for the purchaser. Why can't we help the kampong/town folks who really deserved it irrespective of race or religion?
